Cassie in Barmouth

This is Cassie. She spends a lot of her time in Barmouth. She had just been jumping off the harbour wall into the sea after a stick just prior to taking this photo. Her owner was busy mending the lobster pots ready for his fishing trip the next day.

Jasper & JJ on the Brecon Canal Towpath

The Brecon Canal located within the National Park is one of the most beautiful waterways in Britain. It stretches for 35 miles from Brecon to Five Locks, Cwmbran following the picturesque Usk Valley. Tree lined for much of its length with a profusion of wild flowers and teeming with wild life it is a real joy to stroll along at any time of the year. Cycling, fishing, boating & canoeing are popular too.
Fishing
Coarse fishing for carp, bream & roach is permitted all year round. A popular spot is Llangynidr Pond between locks 67 & 68. British Waterways permits are available at Govilon Wharf and fishing permits can be bought at local Post Offices.

Boating & Canoeing
Day boat hire is available from Easter to October at Llanfoist Wharf & Talybont on Usk and canoes from Gilwern. You can use your own canoe but you must have a British Waterways licence. For information call 01606 723800

Jasper, JJ & The Brecon Mountain Railway

Yes! You can take your dogs on the Brecon Mountain Railway. (£2.50 each).
The Brecon Beacons National Park with its beautiful mountain, lake and forest scenery was exceptionally lovely during our visit because of the snow. We had to keep a firm check on Jasper & JJ however. If lost they would have been very difficult to find with such perfect camouflage.

Dog Friendly Rhandirmwyn, Carmarthenshire

Dear Anne,

I live in Rhandirmwyn, Carmarthenshire which is particularly dog friendly - The Royal Oak and the Towy Bridge Inn allow dogs as does Ty Te Twm the cafe/PO & village shop. The Neaudd Arms in Cilycwm also have a soft spot for dogs....

Dog walkers who wish to share the Rhandirmwyn experience with their furry friends are well catered for with miles of walks in Cwm Rhaeadr forest,

hope this is useful,

Sara Fox
